When it comes to your wedding ceremony, there’s one thing we want you to remember: there are no hard and fast rules.
At Michelle and Dusty Wedding Ceremonies, we help couples create a ceremony that feels truly theirs — personal, meaningful, and joyful. Whether you love tradition, want something relaxed and playful, or a mix of both, the choice is yours.
The Legal Minimum
In Australia, the only legal requirement is that the minimum mandatory 124 words are said and the paperwork is signed correctly with witnesses, confirming you are entering into marriage freely and willingly.
That’s it! Everything else — order of events, readings, signing — is completely flexible.
No Set Rules
Many couples follow a familiar flow:
Vows first
Exchange of rings
Kiss
Signing documents
But you don’t have to. Want to sign your marriage documents before the vows? Go for it! Want the kiss at the very end? Absolutely. As long as the 124 words are included, we can run your ceremony exactly how you like.
Personalising Your Ceremony
This is your chance to make the ceremony reflect you. We help you:
Tell your story — how you met, funny moments, or what you love about each other
Craft heartfelt or humorous vows
Add readings, songs, or rituals
Choose the order of signing, music, and photos
Every ceremony is different, and every couple deserves a celebration that feels authentic.
How We Run Your Ceremony
At Michelle and Dusty Wedding Ceremonies, we guide you through:
Traditional or alternative ceremony structures
Incorporating personal touches
Ensuring the legal wording is included seamlessly
Keeping the timing smooth and stress-free
Basically, you plan it, we run it, exactly how you like.
In a Nutshell
Your ceremony is your moment — not a checklist of rules. With the legally required 124 words said, you can choose the order of events, the readings, the rituals, and even when the kiss happens.
We love helping couples design a day that’s personal, joyful, and memorable — because your wedding should feel like you.
