DIY Wedding Rehearsal

  • 2 min read

A rehearsal doesn’t need to be formal or complicated — it’s just about giving everyone a gentle run-through so the wedding day feels familiar, calm, and easy.

Here’s a simple way to walk through it, with tips for each key moment:

💍 1. Ceremony entrance

  • Decide your order clearly (who walks when)

  • Run through with the music and delegate your music coordinator.

  • Walk at a slow, steady pace — not rushed

    • Tip: pause for a second before stepping out so everyone settles and breathes

💒 2. Arrival at the ceremony space

  • Practice where you’ll stand and face

    • Tip: couples often forget this part — take a moment to actually look at each other and pause before starting

  • Remind your Maid of Honour to take your Bouquet and fix your dress

💬 3. Welcome + opening moments

  • Quickly go over where the celebrant stands and where everyone looks

  • Tip: remember:— you don’t need to “perform,” just be present

💍 4. Vows

  • Practice volume and pacing (slow is perfect)

    • Tip: pause if emotions kick in — no need to rush through it

  • Discuss who will be holding your vows

💫 5. Ring exchange

  • Discuss who is holding the ring and remind them to present the rings to you and keep the box.

  • Practice the order: “take your partners ring → place their ring on their left hand”

    • Tip: don’t worry if it feels awkward in rehearsal — it always feels natural on the day

💋 6. The kiss

  • Decide how you’ll move in (lean in, turn, step forward)

    • Tip: go slow — this moment is meant to land, not rush

🎉 7. Signing + exit

  • Confirm who will be part of the signing, you, your partner and your two witnesses.

  • Let your bridal party know to stay in place because after the signing we will go back to the aisle to conclude the ceremony.

  • Decide if you would like to kiss again, or dip kiss half way down the aisle or celebrate!

  • Walk through your exit order

    • Tip: the exit is your first “just married” moment — relax and enjoy it

💛 Final reminder

The goal of a rehearsal isn’t perfection — it’s confidence. If everyone roughly knows the flow, the wedding day feels smooth, natural, and way less stressful.

And don’t forget… it’s totally normal for everyone to laugh, forget things, and do it slightly differently on the day anyway. That’s part of the magic ✨
